Who’s on your team?

I’ve been thinking a lot about who I want to be. I have a favourite quote:

What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make

Jane Goodall

So, as I said, I’ve been thinking about this… it’s a process, and I’m not done yet. What is the difference I want to make? And how do I get there?

I haven’t figured out what exactly I want to do – but I have figured out that getting “there” means surrounding myself with a team. The best teams are filled with people who make each other better, who build each other up and fill in each other’s weak spots.

So who do you surround yourself with? I have a fantastic group of friends who are in similar careers and offer their experience and expertise. I have Mom friends who offer a fantastic sounding board for my parenting dilemmas and are seriously the most wonderful, supportive people. And, despite being artistically challenged myself, I have managed to find friends who are incredibly creative and artistic. Finally, I have a number of honest, analytical friends who keep me grounded.

Surround yourself with fantastic people – it makes life so much better!

It’s important to surround yourself with great teammates – like I have – but it’s equally important to be a great teammate.

The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.

So give it away – share your passions, your expertise, your support. And let me know what your team is made of!
